There’s one undisputed top dog when looking for quality food on-the-go. Chez Pascal, located on Hope Street in Providence, has a “Wurst Window” serving a variety of hot dogs and house made sausages. But don’t let the name fool you, they also have indoor seating with some communal tables, which is perfect for these cold winter months. You may have also spotted a red and white food truck called “Hewtin Dog Mobile” roaming around town. Well, that’s another way you can taste some of Chez Pascal’s delicious sausages. The best part? They’re only about $8 a pop for lunch no matter where you grab them!
I recently paid a visit to the Window and opted for the “Currywurst” (pictured above) which was a smoked weisswurst with curried onion sauce and house mustard. Traditionally made with veal, Chez Pascal put a twist on this German inspired sausage and used pork instead. Carefully spread on top was a spicy blend of curry and onions that created an explosion of flavor. If you like some heat, then you should definitely give this one a try.
Now, if you’re looking for a less refined Frankfurter and prefer your dog smothered in beans and coleslaw, then the Hot Link is the perfect for you. It was like a sloppy, irresistible, beautiful mess of pork and beans tucked into a soft, fresh bun. Trust me, it’s worth breaking your New Year’s Resolution for!
If you plan on stopping by the Wurst Window (Don’t question it. Just go.), be sure to keep track of their limited hours. Lunch is served Tuesday – Saturday from 11:30am – 2:30pm. Dinner is served the same nights from 5:30pm-9:30pm.
