Meet Me at Nick’s on Broadway!!!

So we’ve been running Front Row Eats for a little over a year now and we have to admit…it’s an absolute disgrace it has taken us this long to write about Nick’s on Broadway. I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me, “have you ever been to brunch at Nick’s?” It’s one of those places that everyone knows about. In fact, I bet if you asked ten different people what they think the best restaurant in Rhode Island is, at least half of them would say Nick’s on Broadway.

What makes Nick’s so special you ask? The answer is…the quality. All of their ingredients are locally and carefully sourced.  For example, all of the eggs are hand-picked from Baffoni Farms in Johnston. You can literally taste the difference. And if you can’t…go back to Denny’s.

We started with an order of Eggs Benedict served over a Buttermilk Biscuit (shown in the main picture above). There was a thick, hunk of ham resting between the soft, delicate eggs and the buttery biscuits. The creamy, luscious Hollandaise Sauce cascaded down the plate like a waterfall. Also served with a delicious combination of sweet potato/potato home-fries, this brunch favorite was awesome!

Black Beans with Scrambled Eggs, Grilled Tortilla, Tomato Salsa and Avocado-Cilantro Creme

This dish was recommended to us by our server…and obviously she knows what she’s talking about. It was amazing! It had a slight kick without it being too spicy or overpowering. I detected hints of nutmeg in the black beans that may have also counteracted some of the spiciness. The avocado-cilantro creme was definitely my favorite part of the dish. It was rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor.

I didn’t enjoy the Grilled Tortillas which were borderline burnt on the back. I also thought the ratio of black beans to eggs skewed a bit too heavily in the beans department. All in all, it was still a fantastic dish and I would definitely recommend it as well!

Warm Fruit Cobbler with Toasted Cinnamon-Oat Crumble and House-spun Vanilla Ice Cream

Who doesn’t love a good cobbler? The fruit was piping hot and all of the natural juices were oozing and overflowing from the ramekin. The cinnamon-oat crumble also gave the perfect crunch in every bite. I always love a hot/cold in my desserts so I liked the addition of the vanilla ice cream on top. I just wish the ice cream was served on the side because it melted and resulted in a soup-like effect.


Well there you have it – we finally wrote about Nick’s on Broadway! There’s no doubt that this is one of the best restaurants in the state. So if you’ve never been to Nick’s, start by setting your alarm for around 9am on the weekend and head down to Providence. But don’t forget, Nick’s serves more than just Breakfast/Brunch. They also offer great Lunch and Dinner menus too.
