Highlights from Mohegan Sun WineFest 2012

Judging by the gigantic Hennessy ice sculpture above, you can probably guess that the Mohegan Sun WineFest 2012 was bigger and better than ever! This year, thousands of wine connoisseurs attended this epicurean extravaganza to sample an unparalleled selection of wine from around the world. Not interested in wine? No problem! Despite the name, the Sun WineFest also offers and enormous selection of beer, whiskey, vodka, and other premium spirits that can be paired with food from some of Mohegan’s top restaurants.

Food Network fans could watch and learn as Celebrity Chefs like Bobby Flay, Robert Irvine, Marc Forgione and many others performed culinary demonstrations on the center stage. Other notable Culinary Stars like Guy Fieri were also seen walking the floor amongst the crowd. Unfortunately I didn’t see him for myself, but if I had the chance to ask Guy how he liked the WineFest, I’m sure he would say, “Holy clam Batman, this event was money! Glad I drove on down to flavor town for this one.”

In case you missed this epic event (no excuses for that!), here are some of the highlights from the Sun WineFest 2012.

The Syrah from Valley of the Moon (Sonoma, CA) turned out to be my favorite wine of the day.

I LOVED the Don Julio Real!!!

I didn’t know it at the time…but the bottle costs about $400. I guess I have expensive taste. 🙂

For your viewing pleasure, we have also added a slideshow below which highlights this year’s event (which includes about 20 pictures). In case you want to skip ahead, just place your cursor over the pics.

Again, if you missed the Sun WineFest last weekend, there’s always next year. Just remember to buy your tickets early because this event sells out fast!!!
