B.Y.O.B. at Luxe Burger

One of my biggest pet peeves in the food world are picky eaters. “May I have the chicken alfredo with the sauce on the side?” Or how about the indecisive eaters who always seem to order AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE!! Nothing grinds my gears more than someone who seems to be confident with their order, and once the server arrives, their menu turns into some kind of hieroglyphic tablet, making it impossible for them to decide on what to eat.

After dining at LUXE Burger, I immediately sensed this was the perfect place for the picky and indecisive. Oh and it’s the perfect place for everyone else too, especially if you love burgers! Located in the heart of Downtown Providence, LUXE offers a laundry list of toppings, sauces, and fixin’s to pave the way to your own cheeseburger nirvana.

Every table is fitted with pads of “Build Your Own Burger” (B.Y.O.B.) sheets and pencils to help you on your journey to satisfaction…

LUXE gives you the keys to the car as you start from scratch in creating the ultimate burger. Step #1 is your foundation (“burger”) and with 7 choices, you’re bound to find the one for you. Steps #2-9 offer hundreds of combinations of veggies, premium toppings like guacamole and pulled pork, and a slew of sauces.

And if you find yourself sitting with a table full of crumpled sheets of paper, no worries, LUXE has it covered. Their menu has an awesome lineup of appetizers, specialty burgers and sandwiches. Want to know what else is awesome?? Their milkshakes!!!

“S’mores” – One of their many signature Hard Shakes

I was accompanied by my friend, Jon, and he recommended the S’mores milkshake, a blend of vanilla ice cream, Bailey’s, and Godiva Chocolate Liqueur. All I can say is…WOW! The alcohol to milkshake ratio was perfect. Easily one of the best milkshakes I’ve had in a long time. And Luxe hit a home run with the incorporation of burnt marshmallows suspended over the glass. I actually dunked the marshmallows into the shake and it was a-mazing!

B.Y.O.B. Grilled Chicken Sandwich ~ Fried Egg, Aged Cheddar, Smoked Bacon

The grilled chicken was charred to perfection and the flavors and textures were very comforting. I felt like I was eating breakfast in a bun with the combination of the smooth, runny egg and crisp bacon. I definitely recommend the chicken if you’re not in the mood for beef.

The burger however fell a bit short in comparison to the grilled chicken breast.  I admire the fact that they use a custom blend of fresh beef for all of their burgers. However, I noticed my burger came out well done which could have led to my initial reaction of the burger. On the bright side, it’s a great excuse to go back to give the burgers another try!

As always, there was room for dessert. The jumbo chocolate chunk cookie a la mode was an easy choice. I mean who doesn’t love a warm, chewy cookie completely covered in a mound of cold, creamy ice cream?! And I’m pretty sure you can guess how awesome it was. The contrast of hot/cold cannot be described in words.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Luxe. However, I think you go for the toppings and not so much the burger. You can taste a good burger when you eat one and I was missing that when eating at Luxe. Don’t fret, Luxe is still a nice spot, especially at a reasonable price which is rare to find in Downtown Providence. Just remember, if you go, please make sure to order the S’mores Hard Milkshake….trust me!!
